So before I jump into what this post is really all about, let me start off by saying that I am not a professional writer, so do not expect perfection here. I am not an english major, and I haven't been blogging for years and years. But, what I do have is a true love for the Lord and a calling that he has placed on my heart, right now, at 12:07 in the morning, and as scared and as nervous as I am to share my heart with you all... I am going to listen to Him on this.
So, New Years Eve is upon us (did 2015 fly by or what?) and all day I have been thinking about what I am going to do tonight. What am I going to wear? How will I do my makeup? Where am I going to go? You know, all of the typical going out for the night questions; when it hit me that maybe the actual clothes I will have on, isn't the most important thing that I will be wearing tonight.
I mean glitter and sparkles are nice, but is that really what matters?
Is that really all I want people to see when they look at me? And ladies, is that really all you want people to see when they look at you?
When you're a single lady on New Years
there is always one particular thing on your mind that stands out above the other 10 million things going on in your head, don't even sit there and pretend like you aren't thinking of that New Years kiss or what cute guys will be seeing you tonight. But can I ask you something?
Is a cute outfit, makeup, and some heels the only thing you want these guys to see?
Being a single lady, and a child of God, I am constantly thinking of my future husband and waiting on the day that we finally meet... and I'm sure your are too. Did you know that you can honor your future husband before you ever even meet him? Tonight, as you're out with your friends, I challenge you to keep your future husband on your mind.
I challenge you to dress, speak, and act in a way that would honor, not only him, but honor God. Carry yourself as the confident and beautiful woman God created you to be.
When men look at you tonight what do you want them to see? Do you want them to see surface level beauty that will eventually fade away? Or do you want them to see God's love and God's light radiating out of every part of you?
The choice is up to you.
Sure it would be so easy to grab that drink just like everybody else, but easy isn't what God has called us to do.
I challenge you single ladies to live your life in such a way tonight that, in order to get to you, a man will have no choice but to meet God first. And a man that is willing to do that ladies, is a man worth paying attention to.
Trust me, I know that you will see some very handsome and very charming men tonight... But let me let you in on a secret that I learned the hard way, those good looks and that charm mean absolutely nothing if he doesn't have a heart for God. Looks and charm will fade, but the love of Christ is eternal.
If a man cannot lead you with the love of God in his heart, then leave him be.
Instead wait, wait for the man that God is preparing for you. And in your wait, don't lose patience. Don't give up and decide to settle if God doesn't put him in your life right away. I'm not saying the waiting is easy because believe me, the waiting is hard.
But your time of waiting is also the BEST time for you to draw closer to God, and to prepare yourself to meet the man that is being prepared for you.
It's a New Year ladies, and this year I challenge you (and myself as well) to be more than just beauty on the surface.
Because we were made for more.
Xoxo Em
